Racing fever at the Olympic Stadium Munich
On the weekend of 16th and 17th July the Munich Olympic Park was all about the racing. For the first time in the history of the DTM racing series was a show event held in a sports stadium. The historic Olympic Stadium was converted for this purpose into a racetrack. Both the lawn and the running track have been replaced by a 1.19 km long paved race track, so the DTM drivers and the MINI challenge drivers were scilled to fight for thei honor. Ideal racing conditions – and a highlight not only for motorsport fans.
Many visitors came during the two day event in Munich's Olympic Stadium to witness the racing event up close. In addition, rounded stunt shows, concerts and taxi rides from the varied entertainment. A thoroughly successful sporting event. Only with the weather, the organizers had bad luck to end the race weekend. The second time run of the MINI Challenge had to be canceled entirely after heavy rains. But the spectators can look forward to a continuation of the DTM Show Events in 2012.
After hosting the FIS Ski World Cup in January showed the Olympic Park once again that he can be a great venue for exceptional (sporting) events.
