Glamorous bestowal of Sky’s 3. Mira Award

A plenty of stars, emotions and happy winners – the 3. Mira Award had much to offer. The Sky-initiated award pays tribute to exceptional achievements within the German Pay-TV. Last Thursday the award was bestowed in front of 270 selected guests within a glamorous gala dinner at ewerk in Berlin. “Pay-TV has become the innovation platform for all program directors. Therefrom all viewers benefit day-to-day and twenty-four-seven. The Mira Award honors these achievements and that’s why it’s the Pay-TV event of the year”, says Gary Davey, Executive Vice President Programming Sky Germany.

Broadcast stations and personalities were awarded within eight categories; amongst it Sky as the best HD broadcast station. The broadcast station Syfy carried the category “favorite broadcast station”. This prize was choosen by the world’s most toughest jury – the viewers. The rating of the seven other categories took place by a competent, autonomous jury. For example, the actress Katja Flint and the producer Max Wiedemann were parts of this jury, amongst others.

Highlight of this evening was the bestowal of the “Lifetime Achievement Award” for special rewards to Marcel Reif – especially owing to the witty speech of Günther Jauch. “Marcel Reif’s comment is the acoustical, the rhetorical masterstroke, which turns even an ordinary football game into a total work of art of the sports journalism”, says Günther Jauch about the prize winner.

Further invited guest were Heiner Lauterbach, Uwe Ochsenknecht, Barbara Becker, top model Franziska Knuppe, Michel Friedmann as well as Sky CEO Brian Sullivan, amongst others.
