Livable Munich in “Stadtgespräch” (talk of the town)
For Munich citizens it’s clear: Munich is one of the cities with the highest quality of life. The city impresses tourists from all over the world and is also home for over one Million Munich residents. The urban hinterland with its mountains, lakes and forests is just as fascinating as the architecture of the city, with its parks and its historical buildings. In “Stadtgespräh” Jörg van Hooven discussed with Harald Strötgen, Alfons Schuhbeck and Georg Schmöhe their livable Munich.
Especially because of its unique atmosphere is the “northern city of Italy” for Harald Strötgen, the chief executive officer of the “Stadtskarkasse München”, that liveable. He enjoys walking through Munich and watching the pulsating city.
Georg Schmöhe is impressed by the cultural variety in Munich. As the principal conductor of The Munich Symphony Orchestra he determines the “sound of the city”. Georg Schmöhe is especially glad about the long lasting partnership with the “Stadtsparkasse München”, which supports the work with The Munich Symphony Orchestra as main sponsor.
Alfons Schuhbeck is an award-winning chef and Bavarian by heart. He appreciates the Munich citizens’ character and the Bavarian snugness. For him, the Munich based cuisine is most important: He especially loves the ingredients of the urban hinterland and the seasonal cuisine.
Apart from the beautiful facades Munich offers its citizens also several other positive aspects. Just like the economic development, the social hedging and the safety of Munich. To make sure that also the poor and vulnerable of Munich are not forgotten the “Wir helfen München” (We help Munich) foundation was founded. As part of the program a trailer shows the latest activities and successes of the foundation.
To give this extraordinary program the right setting Alfons Schuhbeck opened not only his culinary school, but also the famous „Münchner Kindl Stuben“. Inside the kitchen, the master himself took hand and impressed Harald Strötgen and Joerg van Hooven with his skills.
