150,000 euros donated for needy children

Around 250 guests from the Munich business world and politics came together to sponsor the charity evening WIZO München e.V. "Sponsor a Child". The donations from the evening help needy children in Israel. With a sponsorship of € 500 a year they will receive a nursery place in one of the institutions of the international charity organization WIZO.

The Munich-WIZO President Helena Habermann acknowledged in her speech the commitment to the successful projects in Munich "Wir helfen München" and "Kinderpalliativzentrum München”. President of the Jewish community of Munich and Vice President of World Jewish Congress, Dr. hc Charlotte Knobloch, and Mayor Christian Ude have been the patrons of the event. Ude was accompanied by his wife as guest of honor Edith von Welser-Ude. The President of WIZO Germany, Diana Schnabel, took this opportunity to appoint Helen Habermann Honor-President of WIZO. This honor has been given to only very few women.

Charlotte Knobloch and the Bavarian Minister Joachim Herrmann called for the importance to support Israel as the only democratic state in the Middle East at the podium. The friendship between Israel and Germany is shown in political, cultural and civil society level, says Herrmann. The highlights of the evening was one the show of the Munich Symphony Orchestra conducted by Georg Schmöhe. With the introduction of the Munich Francaise under the guidance of the former Science Minister Thomas Goppel the official part of the evening sounded out.

WIZO cares for 14,000 children aged 6 months to 5 years in 172 daycare centers in Israel. Here all the children are lovingly cared for, taught and practiced Jewish traditions. Particular emphasis is placed on individual development of the individual, but also to the respect and equal rights of other cultures.
