Knowledge transfer in Oberhaching: Bavarian Geothermie know-how for Ireland

The Irish-Bavarian exchange concerning geothermal energy has been going on for years. Now a delegation of Irish investors and project developers once again came to the rural district of Munich and also visited the boring site of the geothermal energy Grünwald in Oberhaching-Laufzorn. ”Very interesting!“ was the overall opinion. ”We will use the experience we gained for the build-up of a geothermal energy infrastructure in Ireland”, said the delegation members.

Stefan Rothörl, executive director of the geothermal energy Grünwald GmbH, was happy about the visit: „We are willing to pass our experiences we gained from the boring preparation as well as from the boring itself. Climate protection knows no bounds; successful regenerative energy projects benefit all of us. No matter if they are started in the rural district of Munich or in Ireland.“

The conversations dealt with guidelines of the mining law, exactly defined claim allocations as well as the boring technology itself. In Ireland the necessary basics for future geothermal energy investments are to be created by the end of 2010. Cross-border communication – the ultimative global topic of our time.
